How to Request Account and Data Deletion

You can permanently delete your Gethsemane account and associated data at any time. Account deletion is irreversible.

  1. Open the Gethsemane app on your device
  2. Go to Settings (tap the gear icon)
  3. Scroll to the Account section
  4. Tap Delete account
  5. Review the confirmation and tap Delete my account

If you no longer have access to the app (e.g. you uninstalled it), you may request account deletion by emailing support@gethsemane.app. We will process your request within 30 days.

What Gets Deleted

When you delete your account, the following data is permanently removed:

  • Account data: Your account information, user ID, and linked authentication data (Google/Apple) from our servers
  • Session data: All active sessions and authentication tokens
  • Journal entries, tags, and local data: All journal entries, tags, and other data stored on your device are deleted when you confirm account deletion

What Is Retained

The following data may be retained for legal or operational reasons:

  • Trial records: The device identifier associated with your free trial is retained indefinitely to prevent trial abuse. No other personal data is linked to this record.
  • Analytics data: Anonymised or aggregated analytics data may be retained in accordance with our PostHog configuration and data retention policies.
  • Subscription data: RevenueCat, Apple, and Google retain subscription and payment data in accordance with their respective retention policies. We do not control this data.

Important Notes

  • Export before deleting: We recommend exporting your journal entries (Settings → Data → Export) before deleting your account if you wish to keep a copy.
  • Subscriptions: Account deletion does not cancel any active subscription. Cancel your subscription separately through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store to avoid continued charges.
